The 27th BIEMH, International Machine-Tool Exhibition, closed with positive ratings from participants and from the more than 34,000 trade visitors to this, Spain’s biggest industrial trade show. The 2012 event considerably exceeded expectations (coloured by the current market situation) in terms of the amount of business done, and a significant number of major deals were concluded.
BIEMH took place over 6 days at Bilbao Exhibition Centre. In the words of the Centre’s CEO, José Miguel Corres, there was not only a significant presence of EU-based purchasers but also a large number of specialists from other countries whose markets are among the main destinations of today’s machine-tool exports, such as China, Turkey, Ukraine, India, Mexico, Brazil, Algeria, Morocco, Russia, Egypt, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Overall foreign visitor numbers were up 9% on the previous edition, and visitors from 56 different countries attended the event.
The sectors rated as most interesting by trade visitors were metal cutting machines, tools and accessories, metal forming machines and automation of production systems.
